Mrs. Chambers was the wife of Sheriff Al Chambers in Fairvale. She told Lila Crane that she helped Norman Bates pick out the dress his mother was buried in. It was periwinkle blue, she recalled.
Mrs. Chambers and her husband attended the Fairvale Church (First Baptist Church in the novel). "The woman was a short, gray-haired nonentity in a mail-order print dress" was how she was described in the novel.
