Josh was a young resident of Fairvale, California. He and his girlfriend snuck into the cellar of the Bates House to smoke marijuana and have a sexual encounter. While there, he encountered Emma Spool. Kim was able to escape but Josh was stabbed to death by Spool. His body was then dumped in the swamp on the Bates property.
Josh's murder was attributed to Lila and Mary Loomis by Sheriff John Hunt.
